The role
Provide legal and compliance support to the company’s growing North American operations through the following responsibilities:
- Advise business teams on corporate, compliance, labor and employment, and safety and environmental matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
- Maintain and strengthen compliance programs, policies, and internal procedures.
- Conduct legal risk assessments and report findings to leadership and compliance committees.
- Prepare the business for regulatory audits and investigations.
- Manage litigation, legal claims, and relationships with external counsel.
- Develop and deliver legal and compliance training across the organization.
Essential attributes
- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree.
- Minimum three years of legal experience.
- Strong corporate law and compliance experience.
- Knowledge of labor and employment and safety and environmental matters.
- Experience within an in-house legal team or law firm.
- Automotive or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Excellent legal judgment, communication, negotiation, and risk assessment skills.
- Michigan Bar admission preferred but not essential.
