We're actively seeking a proficient and driven safety manager to join the innovative team of one of California's leading construction firms. Their mission is to transform the schooling and educational sectors' construction landscape through a commitment to sustainability.

As the Safety Manager, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments. 
  • Plan, implement, and conduct preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs. 
  • Plan, implement, manage, and maintain comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations. 
  • Maintain the company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
  • Manage and maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs
  • Provide the project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. 
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management. 
  • Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence. 

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong skills in risk assessment/management, administrative policies, and project controls.
  • Key attributes include a conceptual planning ability, conflict management skills, problem-solving and leadership qualities.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a broad knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines, interpret legal and federal OSHA documents.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or a processing company is advantageous.
  • Exhibit familiarity with job site machinery and products.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety, and DOE 10 CFR Part 851 are highly desirable.
  • The ability to understand incident/accident reporting, including workers' compensation claims management.
  • The ability to lift 20-50 pounds on a regular basis, and also walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Spanish speaker preferred.
