The Company
This U.S.-based leader in grid-scale battery storage is positioned to become one of the most dominant companies in the American energy market. Backed by a global clean energy powerhouse, they combine advanced engineering expertise with cutting-edge manufacturing capacity, including a growing domestic footprint.
With a 40 plus GWh project pipeline and more than 250 professionals already on board, their U.S. division is scaling fast as they continue developing some of the most advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems in the industry.
The Role
As a Senior Power Conversion System Engineer, you will become one of the key technical authorities for PCS and inverter technology across a rapidly growing portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
This is a highly influential engineering role with ownership over how PCS technology is selected, specified, qualified, and ultimately deployed across large-scale projects. You will work directly with inverter suppliers, internal product teams, utilities, and project engineering groups to ensure each solution performs across the full operating envelope and meets evolving U.S. grid-code and interconnection requirements.
Your work will span everything from supplier qualification and technical specifications through to grid-forming and grid-following behavior, capability analysis, FAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and model validation.
The role offers a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of power electronics, grid integration, product engineering, and supplier strategy, with real influence over the technologies used across future BESS projects.
Responsibilities Include
• Acting as the technical subject matter expert for utility-scale PCS and inverter technology
• Defining PCS technical specifications, interface requirements, and acceptance criteria
• Leading PCS supplier qualification and technical evaluation
• Reviewing supplier designs, test data, capability curves, and technical submissions
• Translating grid code and interconnection requirements into PCS-level requirements
• Evaluating real and reactive power capability, voltage range, ride-through, derating, and protection behavior
The Candidate
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• 6+ years of engineering experience across power electronics, PCS/inverters, BESS, or renewable generation
• Strong working knowledge of utility-scale inverter architecture, control modes, capability limits, and protection
• Experience applying grid codes and standards to inverter-based resources
• Experience with PCS supplier evaluation, specification development, and design review
• Strong understanding of power flow, per-unit calculations, capability analysis, and system-level trade-offs
• Experience with PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar modeling tools is highly desirable
• Experience supporting FAT, commissioning, or troubleshooting of PCS/inverter systems is beneficial
