We are partnering with one of America’s most influential technology, energy and advanced manufacturing companies to appoint an experienced Project Developer focused on utility-scale renewable energy, battery storage, and powered land opportunities across North America.
This high-impact position combines greenfield project development, strategic acquisitions, and large-scale power infrastructure, with responsibility for originating, evaluating, and advancing projects across some of the most important energy markets in the United States.
The business is looking for an experienced developer who can combine hands-on project execution with strong commercial and transaction capabilities, helping build a significant pipeline of solar PV, battery storage and powered land opportunities.
Company Overview
Our client is one of the most recognized technology and energy businesses globally, with an established position across advanced manufacturing, battery technology, energy storage and sustainable energy infrastructure.
The company combines significant financial resources, world-class engineering capabilities and an ambitious approach to developing and deploying technologies at scale.
The Opportunity
This position focuses on originating, developing, and acquiring utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage, and powered land projects, with a particular emphasis on the Western United States, Southwest, SPP, and ERCOT markets.
You will own opportunities from initial origination or acquisition diligence through construction readiness, managing land, interconnection, permitting, commercial negotiations, and transaction execution.
The role combines the technical complexity of greenfield development with the commercial and financial responsibilities of project M&A. You will assess new markets, identify attractive opportunities, evaluate project economics and risks, negotiate agreements, and coordinate internal and external stakeholders to advance projects toward investment and construction.
What You’ll Do
• Originate and develop utility-scale solar PV, battery storage and powered land projects across key North American markets
• Lead greenfield development activities, including site identification, land acquisition and control, interconnection, permitting and stakeholder engagement
• Identify, evaluate and execute acquisitions of development-stage energy and powered land projects
• Conduct commercial, technical and financial due diligence on potential acquisitions
• Evaluate grid interconnection capacity, transmission constraints and power availability for large-scale infrastructure projects
• Develop financial models, assess project valuations and identify key investment risks
• Negotiate land agreements, project acquisitions, development partnerships and other commercial arrangements
• Manage relationships with utilities, landowners, developers, authorities, consultants and other project stakeholders
• Coordinate engineering, legal, finance, permitting and other internal teams to achieve development milestones
• Present project opportunities, commercial recommendations and investment risks to senior leadership
• Advance projects from initial origination or acquisition through to construction-ready status
• Support the continued expansion of the company’s development pipeline across WECC, the Southwest, SPP and ERCOT
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Several years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy, battery storage, power infrastructure or related project development markets
• Strong hands-on greenfield development experience across solar PV, BESS or other utility-scale energy projects
• Demonstrated experience in project acquisitions, M&A due diligence and commercial transaction execution
• Experience evaluating or developing powered land opportunities, including large-load sites, grid capacity and utility power availability
• Strong understanding of Western U.S. electricity markets, particularly WECC, the Southwest, SPP and/or ERCOT
• Experience managing land control, interconnection, permitting and other critical development activities
• Proven ability to evaluate project economics, structure transactions and negotiate complex commercial agreements
• Established relationships across developers, utilities, landowners, infrastructure investors and other relevant stakeholders
• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify and communicate technical, financial and development risks
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment while leading complex, cross-functional projects
• Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging senior leadership and external partners
