Role Summary

As the Senior Manager, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), you will lead the site's EHS strategy, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a proactive safety-first culture across the organization. You will provide leadership to a growing EHS team and partner closely with operational leaders to drive continuous improvement in safety performance, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

This role will be responsible for overseeing occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, emergency response preparedness, and sustainability initiatives across a large-scale battery manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the site's EHS strategy to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulatory requirements while supporting operational excellence.

• Build and maintain a world-class safety culture focused on employee engagement, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures across manufacturing operations.

• Drive improvements in key safety performance metrics including Incident Rate, Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), and Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR).

• Lead environmental compliance programs, permitting activities, inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.

• Oversee occupational injury and illness management processes, hazard assessments, risk mitigation activities, and corrective action programs.

• Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis efforts while ensuring effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

• Manage emergency response planning, fire prevention programs, crisis management procedures, and site emergency preparedness activities.

• Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, audits, and certification activities.

• Partner with site leadership, engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure EHS considerations are embedded into all business operations.

• Develop and mentor EHS professionals while building organizational capability across the site.

• Support sustainability initiatives and environmental performance objectives aligned with corporate goals.

Essential Requirements

• 10+ years of Environment, Health & Safety experience within manufacturing, chemical processing, automotive, battery, semiconductor, or other highly regulated industrial environments.

• Proven leadership experience managing and developing EHS teams within large-scale manufacturing operations.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, environmental permitting, industrial hygiene, emergency response, and fire safety programs.

• Experience implementing and managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

• Demonstrated success driving cultural change and improving safety performance metrics within complex manufacturing environments.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Battery manufacturing, automotive, chemical processing, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing experience.

• Experience supporting large-scale greenfield, startup, or rapid-growth manufacturing facilities.

• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
