The Role
The Training Manager will lead the development, delivery, and governance of technical training for the company’s US field service, commissioning, and support teams. This role will own the BESS Technician Training Plan and ensure technicians are trained, qualified, and authorized to safely support utility-scale energy storage projects throughout the full asset lifecycle.
The Training Manager will be responsible for delivering instructor-led training, developing structured training pathways, managing competency assessments, and ensuring programs remain aligned with product updates, field learnings, and electrical safety standards. This position requires strong technical credibility, hands-on field or commissioning experience, and the ability to translate complex electrical and BESS concepts into practical training for technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own, maintain, and continuously improve the BESS Technician Training Plan, including qualification pathways, authorization controls, and retraining requirements
- Develop and deliver instructor-led training for field service technicians, commissioning engineers, and support personnel
- Create technical training materials including manuals, lesson plans, job aids, assessments, and practical evaluation checklists
- Establish competency-based assessments to verify technician proficiency and operational readiness
- Partner with Engineering, Field Services, HSE, and Quality to incorporate product updates, technical bulletins, incident learnings, and corrective actions into training content
- Ensure training programs comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and applicable electrical safety standards
- Manage training records, qualification status, and recertification requirements through LMS, CMMS, or internal tracking systems
- Support onboarding, site readiness, and technician development planning across the US service organization
The Candidate
- 5+ years of experience in technical training, field service, commissioning, or operations within BESS, utility-scale solar, wind, power generation, or electrical infrastructure
- At least 2 years of experience delivering technical training to field-based personnel
- Strong electrical background with hands-on field service or commissioning experience
- Experience developing or managing structured technical training programs
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E
- Utility-scale project experience is required
- BESS experience is strongly preferred, although candidates from utility-scale solar, wind, or inverter manufacturers will also be considered
