Tonic is partnering with a global leader in lithium-ion battery technology at its advanced manufacturing facility in Queen Creek, Arizona.
The Arizona operation represents a major investment in U.S. battery manufacturing and is the company's first cylindrical battery manufacturing facility in North America.
With manufacturing now underway and the facility continuing to ramp, we are looking for 2–4 Assembly Process Engineers to join the engineering team and help develop, optimize and improve its assembly manufacturing processes.
This is a hands-on Process Engineering position focused on battery cell assembly, with laser welding experience particularly sought after.
You'll work closely with Production, Quality and Equipment Engineering to improve process capability, yield and manufacturing performance as operations continue to scale.
Responsibilities will include:
Designing, establishing and optimizing assembly manufacturing processes
Developing and improving laser welding processes
Setting and optimizing manufacturing process parameters
Using data and DOE to improve process capability and reduce defects
Supporting PFMEA, process flow diagrams and control plans
Testing and evaluating new manufacturing processes and equipment
Supporting new model introductions and 4M change verification
Conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
Working cross-functionally to resolve yield and quality issues
Analyzing and improving OEE, yield and process stability
Analyzing process, inspection and cell-defect data
Developing SOPs and supporting operator training
Driving continuous improvement across the assembly process
We are interested in engineers at multiple levels of seniority, from developing Process Engineers through to experienced senior-level professionals.
You should have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience within a manufacturing or process engineering environment
Understanding of manufacturing process development and optimization
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience using manufacturing data to identify trends, abnormalities and defects
Familiarity with DOE, Six Sigma and statistical analysis
Laser welding experience is highly desirable.
