The Role:
Support the continued growth of the company’s US commissioning function across utility-scale BESS projects.
The Commissioning Engineer will support hands-on site commissioning activity, including hot and cold commissioning, troubleshooting, system validation, testing, documentation, and handover from construction through to operational readiness.

This is a 50% field-focused role suited to someone with strong commissioning, field engineering, power systems, renewable energy, inverter, or BESS experience who wants to work on major utility-scale energy storage projects across the US.

The role will involve working closely with Service, Engineering, Project Management, EPCs, contractors, and customers to ensure BESS projects are commissioned safely, correctly, and in line with project requirements.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support commissioning activity across utility-scale BESS projects in the US.
  • Execute hot and cold commissioning, including system checks, controls verification, communications testing, charge / discharge testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Work across BESS equipment and systems including battery systems, PCS, BMS, EMS, SCADA, controls, communications, and auxiliary systems.
  • Verify installation completeness and system readiness before turnover from construction to commissioning.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve commissioning issues across electrical, controls, communications, and system-level interfaces.


The Candidate:

  • 5+ years of relevant commissioning, field engineering, power systems, renewable energy, or utility-scale project experience.
  • Strong experience with hot and cold commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, validation, and handover of electrical or energy systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of BESS systems, ideally including PCS, BMS, EMS, SCADA, controls, communications, grid interconnection, and system-level testing.
  • Experience working with BMS, PCS, EMS, SCADA, or related energy system equipment is highly relevant.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, control drawings, test procedures, and commissioning documentation.
  • Engineering degree preferred, ideally electrical or mechanical, although strong practical experience will also be considered.
