The Company
This U.S.-based leader in grid-scale battery storage is positioned to become one of the most dominant companies in the American energy market. Backed by a global clean energy powerhouse, they combine advanced engineering expertise with cutting-edge manufacturing capacity, including a growing domestic footprint. With a 35 plus GWh project pipeline and more than 230 professionals already on board, their U.S. division is scaling fast as they continue developing some of the most advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems in the industry.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, BESS Standard Solutions, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for developing standardized battery energy storage system configurations used across utility-scale projects.
The role sits at the intersection of engineering, sales, and project delivery. You will define and oversee the development of pre-engineered BESS power block solutions, combining battery systems with power conversion systems, medium-voltage transformers, and associated controls and networking.
These standardized solutions are critical to enabling efficient, competitive project bidding while ensuring downstream execution teams can deliver with confidence.
You will not be designing products from first principles. Instead, you will take existing technologies and define how they are configured, integrated, and deployed across different project requirements.
Working closely with internal subject matter experts across electrical, PCS, systems, and software engineering, you will act as the technical lead for solution architecture while managing and developing a team of engineers.
This is a high-impact role suited to individuals who can balance technical depth with leadership, and who are comfortable operating within a fast-scaling, high-visibility environment.
Responsibilities Include
• Leading and developing a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on standardized BESS solutions
• Defining system-level architectures combining battery systems, PCS, MVT, and controls
• Driving the development of repeatable, commercially competitive power block configurations
• Acting as the technical owner for solution design, ensuring performance, cost, and compliance targets are met
• Supporting Sales Engineering teams by providing well-defined, pre-engineered solutions for project bidding
• Collaborating with internal engineering teams across electrical, systems, PCS, and software disciplines
• Overseeing engineering documentation, validation processes, and design standardization efforts
• Ensuring solutions align with industry standards including NEC, NFPA 855, and UL9540
• Supporting continuous improvement of existing solutions as products and market requirements evolve
• Contributing to technical decision-making related to component selection, integration, and system optimization
The Candidate
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• 8+ years of experience within battery energy storage, power systems, or related high-power applications
• Proven experience working at system level, integrating multiple components into complete energy solutions
• Previous management experience leading engineering teams is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of BESS system architecture, including battery systems, PCS, transformers, and controls
• Experience working in applications engineering, sales engineering, system engineering, or similar solution-focused roles
• Familiarity with industry standards such as NEC, NFPA 855, and UL9540
• Ability to balance technical decision-making with commercial considerations such as cost and scalability
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead cross-discipline engineering efforts
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with a high level of ownership and accountability
Candidates from OEM, EPC, or developer backgrounds will be considered, provided they demonstrate strong system-level understanding and the ability to operate across both technical and commercial aspects of BESS solutions.
Engineers with adjacent experience in power electronics or energy systems may also be considered if they can clearly demonstrate transferable knowledge into battery energy storage applications.
