Key Info

  • Job Title:
    Managing Policy Advisor, Large Load
  • Sector:
    ENERGY STORAGE
  • Salary:
    $200,000 - $250,000 + Significant Equity
  • Contract Type:
    permanent

As Managing Policy Advisor, you’ll sit at the intersection of AI infrastructure, grid reliability, and energy innovation – shaping the policies and regulatory frameworks that will define how the next generation of hyperscale data centers are powered.

This is a highly strategic role focused predominantly on the rapidly emerging large-load and hyperscale market. You’ll work across policy, commercial, product, and engineering teams to establish grid-scale battery energy storage as a critical solution for data center power requirements – improving power quality and resilience, accelerating speed to power, and enabling innovative approaches to grid connection.

Your Mission

  • Develop and execute large-load policy strategies that establish grid-scale battery storage as a key solution for hyperscale and data center power requirements
  • Advocate for frameworks that enable co-located battery storage, bring-your-own-capacity models, faster grid connections, improved power quality, and greater resilience
  • Engage with federal agencies, regulators, utilities, RTO/ISOs, and industry stakeholders to influence emerging large-load policies
  • Build coalitions across the energy, utility, and hyperscale ecosystem to advance innovative approaches to powering rapidly growing data center demand
  • Translate the technical and commercial capabilities of grid-scale storage into compelling policy positions for regulators, utilities, and policymakers
  • Support targeted PJM engagement across interconnection, capacity, procurement, and large-load rules where strategically relevant
  • Align policy, commercial, product, and engineering teams to unlock new opportunities for grid-scale storage within the hyperscale market

The Candidate

  • 6+ years in energy policy, regulation, power markets, utility strategy, or a related energy-sector role
  • Strong understanding of electric utility regulation, large-load interconnection, grid reliability, and the challenges created by rapidly increasing power demand
  • Demonstrated success influencing regulatory, market, or policy outcomes
  • Experience engaging utilities, commissions, federal agencies, RTO/ISOs, trade associations, or other energy stakeholders
  • Exposure to hyperscale data centers, large-load customers, battery storage, or innovative grid solutions would be highly advantageous
  • Skilled communicator capable of translating complex technical and regulatory issues into clear, credible, and persuasive advocacy
  • Strong relationship builder comfortable engaging senior policymakers, regulators, utilities, and commercial stakeholders
  • Confident, energetic, and highly autonomous, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving market where the rules are still being written

The Company

This is an opportunity to join one of the world’s most recognised technology and energy brands and a leading player in the US grid-scale battery storage market.

The business combines global brand recognition with market-leading technology, significant investment, world-class engineering capability, and the scale to deploy energy infrastructure across some of the largest and most sophisticated projects in the market.

For a policy leader, this creates a particularly powerful platform. You won't simply be discussing how the future energy system could work – you'll be helping create the frameworks that allow innovative technology to be deployed at scale.

As AI and hyperscale data centers fundamentally reshape electricity demand, the organisation has the technology, commercial reach, engineering capability, and ambition to play a defining role in how that demand is served.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Emerging Market: Be at the forefront of one of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the US power market – how to meet the extraordinary electricity requirements of AI and hyperscale data centers
  • Policy Influence: Help create the frameworks around speed to power, power quality, reliability, co-location, and large-load grid connection
  • Market Leadership: Join a global brand and one of the leading players in US grid-scale energy storage
  • Technology at Scale: Advocate for solutions backed by proven technology, significant engineering capability, and the ability to deploy at scale
  • Strategic Visibility: Work across senior leadership, policy, commercial, product, and engineering teams on a major growth opportunity
  • First-Mover Opportunity: Influence an emerging market while many of the policies, commercial models, and regulatory structures are still being developed
  • Rewarding Package: Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and long-term incentives

This is a rare opportunity to work at the convergence of AI, hyperscale infrastructure, and the power grid – helping write the rules for an emerging market and establishing grid-scale battery storage as a critical part of how the next generation of data centers are powered.

For someone who wants to combine policy influence with technology, scale, and real-world impact, there are few opportunities quite like it. As Managing Policy Advisor, you’ll sit at the intersection of AI infrastructure, grid reliability, and energy innovation – shaping the policies and regulatory frameworks that will define how the next generation of hyperscale data centers are powered.
