As demand from AI and hyperscale data centers puts increasing pressure on grid capacity, power quality, and reliability, the company is expanding its engineering team to support the next phase of storage-backed data center infrastructure.

This role sits within one of the fastest-growing areas of the energy storage market, at the intersection of BESS, inverters, controls, grid stability, and data center power systems.


The Role:
Act as a senior technical authority for complex BESS applications within the data center market.

The Principal Engineer will focus on the deeper technical challenges behind deploying BESS into data center environments, including dynamic modeling, controls, grid interaction, inverter behavior, system stability, and technical validation.

This role is suited to someone who has hands-on experience modeling electrical systems, analyzing system behavior, tuning controls, and understanding how different pieces of equipment interact under dynamic grid conditions.

The successful candidate will evaluate customer needs, validate technical solutions, support complex project development, and help internal teams build deeper expertise in data center power and BESS applications.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead technical evaluation of BESS applications for data center power systems.
  • Develop, review, or interpret dynamic models to assess system stability, grid interaction, and equipment behavior.
  • Work with tools and concepts such as PSCAD, dynamic modeling, HIL testing, inverter controls, control tuning, response times, and power system behavior.
  • Evaluate how BESS, inverters, UPS systems, generators, and grid-connected infrastructure interact in complex data center environments.
  • Support customer requirements analysis, technical solution development, and system validation.
  • Help confirm that proposed solutions will operate safely, reliably, and as intended under real operating conditions.

The Candidate:

  • Deep electrical systems experience, ideally across BESS, inverters, controls, power systems, grid modeling, data center power systems, wind, storage, or utility-scale electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with dynamic modeling, ideally including PSCAD or similar power systems modeling tools.
  • Experience with inverter controls, system stability, grid interaction, control tuning, HIL testing, or power system behavior.
  • Strong understanding of how inverters interact with the grid and how BESS behaves in complex electrical environments.
  • Data center power systems experience is highly relevant, although expert inverter, wind, storage, or grid modeling backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Electrical engineering background strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10+ years of relevant experience.
