The Role

As Commercial Director, you will lead the commercial and contractual function for the North American business, overseeing everything from BSA and LTSA contracts to equipment procurement, insurance, claims, and dispute resolution.

This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role where you'll work cross-functionally with project, legal, and executive teams, ensuring all contracts are aligned with corporate policies while mitigating commercial risk in complex utility-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial aspects of project delivery, including subcontracting, procurement, insurance, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Review and structure contracts to align with internal policies and reduce legal and financial exposure.
  • Advise on risk mitigation and conduct commercial analysis across major project scopes.
  • Negotiate directly with clients, joint ventures, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with legal counsel to interpret relevant laws and ensure the company's interests are protected.
  • Deliver internal training and guidance on key contractual and commercial topics.
  • Support the implementation of corporate policies and maintain oversight of internal controls.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading contract management in the US utility or energy sector, ideally in BESS or large-scale renewable projects.
  • Strong background in EPC or LTSA contracting, with hands-on knowledge of procurement, insurance, and claims.
  • Skilled in negotiating and structuring commercial terms with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment and work autonomously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Based in the US or Canada, with willingness to travel (~20–25%).
