The Role

The Director of Solutions Engineering will lead all pre-sales engineering efforts across the United States, owning the technical strategy, execution, and customer engagement for utility-scale energy storage opportunities. This role represents the most senior solutions engineering position in the US, acting as the technical authority for complex ESS pursuits and as a key partner to sales, engineering, and product leadership.

The Director will be responsible for developing competitive, compliant, and cost-effective energy storage solutions from early-stage customer engagement through to project handover, while also shaping how solutions engineering is delivered as the US business continues to scale. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong commercial acumen, and extensive experience supporting sales teams in high-value, customer-facing technical discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the development of technical solutions for utility-scale energy storage projects across the US, including system architecture, optimization, and regulatory compliance

  • Serve as the senior technical authority and primary escalation point for customers, EPCs, and internal stakeholders during pre-sales activities

  • Partner closely with sales leadership to define technical strategy, support major pursuits, and influence deal outcomes

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with product roadmaps

  • Translate customer, market, and project feedback into actionable input for solution and product improvement

  • Conduct and oversee technical risk assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as UL, IEEE, NEC, and NFPA

  • Represent the company as a senior technical leader at customer meetings, industry events, and conferences

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in renewable energy with deep utility-scale BESS experience

  • Extensive pre-sales or solutions engineering experience supporting complex energy storage projects

  • Proven ability to lead technical strategy and customer-facing engagements at a senior level

  • Strong understanding of BESS architecture, grid integration, and regulatory requirements

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field
