The role We are seeking an ESS Director of Projects to lead the execution of utility-scale and C&I storage projects across the U.S. and Canada. It would involve building out an entirely new team across North America, offering huge professional growth opportunities.
Reporting to the Managing Director of ESS, this role owns delivery from LNTP through commissioning and final completion. You’ll serve as the primary interface with EPC partners, manage internal delivery teams, ensure on-time site logistics, and safeguard both technical quality and profitability throughout the project lifecycle. Building a close relationship with the Directors of ESS Engineering, Sales & Solutions, and Field Services to deliver these projects will be pivotal.
This role is also open to experienced Project Managers ready to take the next step in their careers, expanding their responsibilities and leadership scope at the director level.
Key Responsibilities
Drive all aspects of ESS project delivery from LNTP through completion
Act as primary contact for EPC partners, aligning on design, schedule, logistics, and commissioning
Review and adapt designs to meet project-specific requirements
Coordinate with factory, operations, and logistics to ensure timely component delivery
Track budgets, costs, and risks while protecting margins
Lead progress meetings, resolve issues, and align stakeholders
Oversee handoff to field services and commissioning for smooth system startup
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
5–10 years’ project management experience in BESS, PV, construction, or utility infrastructure
Essential experience with BESS on Utility or C&I scales.
Strong technical knowledge of energy systems, power conversion, or electrical engineering
Proven ability to deliver large, multi-stakeholder energy projects
Skilled in budgeting, contracts, and risk management
Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and internal teams
