The Company:
One of the top global BESS players, having deployed over 20 GWh of energy storage across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Known for its advanced technology, it offers highly modular systems powered by a proprietary AI-driven EMS. Their vertically integrated model includes in-house manufacturing of PCS, battery modules, and packs.

Recently listed on the stock market due to its strong track record, the company is financially robust and continuing to expand rapidly across the US. Joining the team at this stage offers the opportunity to have significant technical impact within a growing service organization while working directly on major utility-scale energy storage projects.
The culture is meritocratic, technically focused, and led by a high-performing team with deep industry expertise.

The Role:
Support the continued growth of the company’s US service organization as a Senior Performance Engineer focused on utility-scale BESS performance, testing, diagnostics, and advanced troubleshooting.

This is a highly technical role supporting both commissioning and operational assets, with responsibility for independently diagnosing complex performance issues, validating system health, and driving fault resolution across battery, power conversion, controls, and monitoring systems.
The role is remote within the US with approximately 10-20% travel and will work closely with Field Service, Commissioning, Engineering, Product, and Service leadership.
You will act as a senior technical escalation point during critical system events, helping direct troubleshooting strategy, testing, data collection, corrective action, and system recovery.

Key responsibilities:
  • Analyze utility-scale BESS performance data to validate usable capacity, efficiency, availability, and contractual performance.
  • Execute and support battery capacity testing, performance testing, system acceptance testing, and performance validation.
  • Diagnose complex system issues using BMS, PCS, EMS, SCADA, monitoring platforms, alarms, logs, telemetry, and event data.
  • Identify degradation trends, abnormal system behavior, configuration issues, and performance limitations.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting during high-severity outages, directing field teams through diagnostic activity, corrective actions, retesting, and system recovery.
  • Develop electrical test plans, evaluate test results, and determine appropriate corrective actions during root cause investigations.
  • Support commissioning teams with integration testing, system tuning, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform root cause analysis across hardware, software, controls, communications, and configuration layers.
  • Produce clear technical reports, performance summaries, RCAs, and corrective action documentation for internal teams and customers.

The Candidate:
  • 4+ years of experience supporting utility-scale BESS, power electronics, or grid-connected energy systems.
  • Strong direct experience with BESS performance analysis, capacity testing, system acceptance testing, or performance validation.
  • Proven ability to independently diagnose complex issues across BMS, PCS, EMS, SCADA, controls, and site monitoring platforms.
  • Strong understanding of battery performance metrics, degradation mechanisms, usable capacity, efficiency, and system availability.
  • Good technical understanding of BMS architecture, control logic, PCS operation, grid interconnection, and protection behavior.
  • Comfortable leading technical troubleshooting during critical outages and directing field teams through recovery activity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred, although strong practical experience will also be considered.
  • Willingness to support critical commissioning or outage activity outside standard business hours when required.
