The Role
You will take a leading role in the architecture, development, deployment, and commissioning of power plant control systems used across large-scale energy projects.
You will help architect complete plant control solutions, from gathering requirements and defining system interfaces through control logic development, hardware and software design, testing, commissioning, and ongoing support.
The role supports the development of a new generation of power plant controls capable of managing BESS, solar, generators, customer loads, and other generation resources across both grid-connected and islanded applications.
You will work extensively with PLC-based controls, industrial communications, protection relays, switchgear, and SCADA platforms while helping strengthen the team’s expertise around power-system protection and medium-voltage equipment.
The current team includes strong controls generalists, and this hire will bring deeper specialist knowledge in power plant and substation-level controls while helping guide technical decisions across the wider group.
This is an onsite role suited to an engineer who has previously taken meaningful ownership of complete power plant, substation, microgrid, or similar utility-scale control systems.
Responsibilities Include
• Architecting complete power plant control solutions for BESS, solar, generators, microgrids, and customer loads
• Developing PLC-based control logic using Structured Text and function blocks
• Gathering technical requirements and translating them into controller architecture, system interfaces, state logic, and operating sequences
• Designing and integrating both hardware and software elements of plant control systems
• Developing SCADA applications and visualization for real-time monitoring and control
• Integrating power plant controllers with protection relays, switchgear, inverters, transformers, and other intelligent electronic devices
• Leading controller testing, validation, deployment, and site commissioning activities
• Producing detailed controls documentation, operating logic, and engineering records
The Candidate
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in power plant controls, substation controls, microgrids, utility automation, or a closely related environment
• Proven experience taking significant ownership of a complete controller or controls solution rather than supporting only one small element of the system
• Experience gathering requirements, defining architecture and interfaces, developing logic, testing, deploying, commissioning, and maintaining control systems
• Experience with power plant controllers or substation-level control systems is essential
• Backgrounds across BESS, solar, wind, gas turbines, EV infrastructure, microgrids, or other power-system applications can be relevant
• Experience from OEMs, EPCs, developers, consultancies, utilities, or controls integrators can all be considered
