The Role

As Sr. Utility Engineer, you'll take ownership of the utility systems that keep this state-of-the-art gigafactory running. From compressed air and steam to HVAC and electrical systems, your work ensures stability, safety, and scalability. More than a technical role, this is a leadership position—one that requires both deep engineering expertise and the ability to mentor, problem-solve, and drive continuous improvement across a complex facility.

With a team to lead, systems to optimize, and a growing site to support, this is your chance to make an outsized impact in one of North America's most ambitious clean energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of all critical utility systems: electrical, water, gas, steam, compressed air, and HVAC.
  • Design and manage preventive maintenance programs; issue and manage service contracts to support production reliability.
  • Act as technical lead on capacity planning, utility system upgrades, and infrastructure expansion projects.
  • Oversee vendors and contractors for building repairs, modifications, and new construction.
  • Manage work orders, tools, materials, and documentation across all facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to utility-related emergencies to protect production uptime.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for utility coordination with production departments.
  • Coach, train, and develop utility technicians and junior engineers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment aligned with 5S3R workplace principles.

Essential Requirements

  • 7+ years of facilities or utilities experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Proven ability to manage infrastructure in a high-stakes production setting.
  • Physically capable of working in PPE for up to 12 hours and performing manual tasks (lifting, bending, reaching, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general facility operations software.

Preferred Skills

  • PLC experience and familiarity with control systems
  • Six Sigma or DOE background
  • CAD and/or coding knowledge
