A global leader in utility-scale solar and renewable energy technology is expanding its power conversion business, developing advanced inverter and power electronics solutions for large-scale energy infrastructure.

Following significant investment and strategic acquisitions, the company is entering an exciting period of growth, with major product development programs underway and over 1 GW of inverter demand already secured.

The business offers an opportunity to join at an early stage of this expansion, taking ownership of complex engineering programs with significant visibility across senior leadership and the potential to influence the future of its power conversion portfolio.

The Role

As a Staff Engineering Program Manager, you will lead the end-to-end development and industrialization of advanced power conversion hardware, taking programs from initial product definition through engineering, validation, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp.

The position requires someone who combines a credible technical understanding of power electronics with extensive engineering program management experience.

You will work closely with electrical, firmware, systems, manufacturing, supply chain, and product teams across the U.S. and Europe, connecting complex engineering activities, managing technical dependencies, and ensuring successful delivery against program objectives.

This is a highly visible leadership position, regularly engaging with VP and C-suite stakeholders to communicate program progress, identify risks, and drive critical decisions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Owning complex hardware development programs from product definition and design through prototype builds, validation, manufacturing release, and production ramp.
  • Developing and managing integrated program plans covering engineering milestones, budgets, technical dependencies, resources, risks, and delivery schedules.
  • Leading program execution across electrical, firmware, mechanical, systems engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Identifying technical, manufacturing, and scheduling challenges early, developing mitigation strategies, and driving decisions to maintain program progress.
  • Working closely with international engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to coordinate development and production readiness.
  • Managing product readiness activities, including design documentation, BOM maturity, supplier qualification, factory testing, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Presenting program progress, risks, technical trade-offs, and key decisions to senior engineering and executive leadership.

The Candidate

  • Approximately 10–15+ years of relevant experience, with a substantial track record managing complex engineering hardware programs.
  • Proven experience leading products through the full development lifecycle, including design, validation, manufacturing, and production scale-up.
  • Strong technical understanding of power electronics, power conversion, or related complex electrical hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering programs involving multiple technical disciplines, stakeholders, suppliers, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong experience managing program dependencies, technical risks, engineering milestones, budgets, and competing priorities.
  • Experience working with internationally distributed engineering teams and manufacturing operations is highly desirable.
  • An engineering or related technical degree is preferred, although equivalent technical experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to work from the San Francisco Bay Area, with periodic international travel. Relocation support is available.

This position offers significant ownership at an early stage of a growing power conversion business, with the opportunity to work on advanced inverter technologies, influence major engineering programs, and play a central role in bringing new products to market.
