This diversified end-market exposure provides resilience through economic cycles and creates a high degree of job security. The business has a large and growing installed base in renewable energy, particularly in utility-scale solar and power electronics, and is now focused on expanding its technical services and spare parts offerings to better support customers throughout the asset lifecycle.
Employees consistently highlight the company’s structured operating environment, strong values, and long-term mindset, with leadership committed to building scalable, sustainable businesses rather than short-term wins.
The Role
We are seeking a Technical Services Director to build and scale a new technical services and spare parts business from the ground up. This is a senior, entrepreneurial leadership role with a clear mandate to develop new service offerings, drive revenue, and ultimately operate Technical Services as a standalone business unit with its own P&L.
Initially reporting directly to senior leadership, the role will begin with responsibility for a small team (including a sales manager) and will expand as offerings are developed, sold, and scaled. The position is distinct from warranty administration; the focus is firmly on business creation, commercialization, and growth within technical services.
This role will suit someone equally comfortable with strategy and execution someone who can define the vision, build the operating model, and stay close to customers and delivery in the early stages.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation and growth of the Technical Services and Spare Parts business, with emphasis on warranty-related services, lifecycle support, and new revenue-generating offerings.
Develop and execute short- and mid-term business plans for Technical Services, aligned with broader BU and company objectives.
Own the commercial performance of Technical Services, with accountability for orders, sales, margins, and long-term profitability.
Build, lead, and scale the Technical Services organization, evolving from managing direct contributors to a manager-of-managers structure.
Serve as the senior point of contact for key client service projects, service agreements, and spare parts programs.
Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, suppliers, parent company resources) to ensure successful execution of service projects.
Identify gaps in current capabilities and define new Technical Services offerings based on market needs, installed base requirements, and competitive dynamics.
Develop go-to-market strategies for new service offerings, collaborating with Marketing, Business Development, and BU leadership.
Use analytics and KPIs to drive decision-making, forecast demand, and track performance across Technical Services offerings.
Ensure effective risk management, contract compliance, and governance in line with company and parent company policies.
Build strong internal and external relationships to leverage existing customer access, technical expertise, and group-wide best practices.
Proactively represent and promote the company brand with customers, partners, and the wider industry.
Why this role?
This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a technical services business at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth. With a large installed base, strong customer relationships, and executive backing, the foundations are already in place. The right leader will shape the strategy, create new offerings, and build a scalable business that becomes a long-term growth engine for the organization.
