The Company
This U.S.-based leader in grid-scale battery storage is positioned to become one of the most dominant companies in the American energy market. Backed by a global clean energy powerhouse, they combine advanced engineering expertise with cutting-edge manufacturing capacity, including a growing domestic footprint. With a 35 plus GWh project pipeline and more than 230 professionals already on board, their U.S. division is scaling fast, and they are now hiring commissioning professionals to support the energization of some of the largest and most advanced BESS projects in the world.

The Role
This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of utility-scale battery storage deployment.

The organization is hiring Commissioning Specialists and Associate Commissioning Specialists to support multi-GWh Battery Energy Storage projects across the U.S.

These are 6 to 12 month contract roles with a clear pathway to permanent employment for high performers. Several contractors have already transitioned into full-time positions, and as the commissioning platform scales, internal opportunities are increasing.

You will operate at the controller level of grid-scale ESS projects, playing a critical role in taking systems from mechanical completion through to full energization and Commercial Operation Date. These are not small installations. Initial project scope exceeds 2GWh of storage capacity, delivered across complex utility environments.

This position sits at the intersection of software, controls, networking, and high-voltage infrastructure. You will troubleshoot communication faults, validate system connectivity, coordinate directly with inverter, transformer, and HVAC OEMs, and ensure systems are fully integrated and operational.

Depending on experience level, you will either lead commissioning activities or work alongside senior specialists while building deeper system-level expertise in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the U.S. energy market.
The role operates on a rotation basis, typically 2 to 3 weeks on site followed by 1 week at home. All travel and accommodation expenses are covered. Candidates located in Southern California or within reach of Michigan projects are strongly preferred to support rotation efficiency.

Responsibilities
• Installing and updating software and configuration settings across control equipment and network switches
• Testing and validating communication pathways between system components
• Diagnosing and resolving system alarms and faults in coordination with OEM vendors
• Managing battery charge and discharge cycles via system user interfaces
• Supporting full commissioning sequences from initial energization through performance validation
• Working directly with inverter, transformer, and HVAC suppliers during system integration
• Executing and adhering to Lockout/Tagout and site safety procedures
• Maintaining accurate commissioning documentation using digital platforms such as Procore

The Candidate

The organization is seeking professionals who:
• Operate with a strong safety-first mentality and disciplined JSA practices
• Are comfortable engaging with customers and site stakeholders
• Thrive in team-based site environments
• Are adaptable to rotational schedules and evolving project demands
• Want to build long-term careers within utility-scale energy storage

Commissioning Specialist level candidates will bring:
• Direct experience commissioning ESS or utility-scale BESS projects
• Strong understanding of system controls, networking, and communications protocols such as Modbus and DNP3
• Confidence leading troubleshooting efforts in live utility-scale environments
• Experience interfacing directly with third-party OEM vendors

Associate Commissioning Specialist level candidates will bring:
• An electrical background within utility, MV, telecoms, solar, or industrial environments
• Experience troubleshooting control systems or communication faults
• Basic networking knowledge and comfort using command prompt tools
• A strong technical mindset with the ambition to grow into full commissioning ownership

This is a rare opportunity to join a commissioning platform during a major growth phase, working on multi-GWh projects that will directly strengthen grid reliability and renewable integration across the United States.
