This global renewable energy technology organization is one of the world’s largest manufacturers within solar and energy storage and is continuing to expand its European BESS operation. With major utility-scale projects being deployed across the region, they are now hiring a Field Engineer based in Greece to support commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities across their growing Greek project portfolio.
The Role
This is a hands-on Field Engineer position supporting the commissioning and ongoing operation of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across Greece.
You will be involved across the project lifecycle, from installation guidance, inspection, commissioning, testing, and handover through to ongoing troubleshooting and maintenance. The role covers the wider BESS system, including PCS, BMS, EMS, battery equipment, thermal management, fire protection, power distribution, and communications.
A major part of the role is diagnosing technical issues in the field, carrying out repairs or component replacement, completing software and parameter updates, and working directly with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to drive issues through to resolution.
The position is remote and requires approximately 70–75% travel within Greece. Engineers should not normally be away for more than two weeks at a time. Travel and accommodation are arranged, hire cars can be used as required, business expenses are reimbursed, and overtime is paid.
Responsibilities Include:
• Supporting installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover of BESS projects
• Performing integrated commissioning across PCS, BMS, EMS, battery systems, thermal management, fire protection, communications, and associated equipment
• Diagnosing and resolving faults on site
• Carrying out repairs, component replacement, software upgrades, and parameter adjustments
• Supporting ongoing O&M activities across operational BESS projects
• Reading electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and communication topologies
• Working directly with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal technical teams
• Providing customer training and technical support
• Completing work orders, commissioning reports, site logs, and technical documentation
• Following high-voltage, LOTO, working-at-height, and wider site safety procedures
The Candidate
The organization is looking for someone with a strong hands-on electrical background who is comfortable working independently on customer sites.
The strongest candidates will bring:
• 1+ years of commissioning, maintenance, or field service experience
• Previous experience within BESS or utility-scale solar
• BESS experience is ideal, although strong solar inverter experience can transfer well
• Utility and C&I scales preferred
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
• Confidence reading electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills
• Willingness to travel approximately 70–75%
• Fluent English
