Our client is a global leader in advanced lithium-ion battery manufacturing, building a new generation of US battery facilities to support the electric vehicle boom and the transition to renewable energy. Their Arizona plant is a high-tech, sustainable, world-class manufacturing site, and it’s scaling fast.
This is one of the most important industrial projects happening in the US right now.
This isn’t a maintenance role in an established building, this is a greenfield facility, still evolving, still being built out, and growing into a workforce of 1,500+ employees by the start of production next year.
Position Summary
The Fire Prevention Manager will own the plant’s fire prevention, emergency response, and life safety programs end-to-end. You’ll ensure full compliance with fire safety regulations, lead preparedness across the site, and act as the key incident response leader for fire-related emergencies.
This role is for someone who can build systems, train people, and lead calmly under pressure and who understands what it takes to keep a fast-scaling manufacturing environment safe.
Key Responsibilities
Fire Prevention & Compliance
Inspect plant systems, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, fire codes, and local requirements
Monitor and maintain the facility’s fire protection systems including sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers, hydrants, and suppression systems
Conduct routine audits, hazard assessments, and risk analyses and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Lead the on-site fire and emergency response program, including drills and live exercises
Act as Incident Commander during fire-related emergencies until local authorities assume control
Develop and maintain the plant’s fire and emergency response plans, ensuring they evolve alongside the facility
Training & Culture
Train employees on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and emergency equipment use
Promote strong awareness and accountability through regular communication and structured safety campaigns
Investigation & Improvement
Investigate incidents, near misses, and fire-related hazards
Document root cause, recommend corrective actions, and drive follow-through
Work cross-functionally to strengthen systems and reduce risk over time
Collaboration
Partner closely with Plant Safety, Security, and Maintenance teams to mitigate site risk
Build strong relationships with local fire departments and external emergency services.
Qualifications
Certification as Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, or Firefighter II (NFPA or state-recognized) strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, OSHA standards, and industrial fire protection systems
Experience in fire protection, safety, or emergency response in an industrial/manufacturing environment
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capability, especially under pressure
Comfortable building programs from the ground up and operating in a fast-moving facility
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies using firefighting equipment and PPE
Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials, high-noise environments, and changing weather conditions.
Must be willing to support off-shift activity (nights/weekends) when required for incident response or operational needs
Why this role matters
This isn’t a role where you inherit a program. You will be shaping the fire safety culture of a plant that will define the next decade of US battery manufacturing.
If you’ve built programs, led teams, and take pride in protecting people and operations at scale, this is an incredibly exciting opportunity.
