The Company
A market leader in the U.S. energy storage industry, generating multi-billion-dollar annual revenue and continuing to scale rapidly across utility-scale storage, power infrastructure, and advanced industrial products.
Fully vertically integrated across hardware, software, engineering, manufacturing, and deployment, all based in the U.S., the company offers a rare opportunity to influence products used across some of the largest energy projects in the world. The environment combines technical depth, speed, and high accountability, with significant ownership given to individuals who can translate complex market, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial requirements into scalable product decisions.
The Role
As Staff or Senior Staff level Product Manager for Utility-Scale BESS, you will own the lifecycle and roadmap for a next-generation battery energy storage platform, from product development and factory ramp through global commercialization, sustaining, and continuous improvement.
You will work across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, finance, and project delivery to ensure the product remains technically competitive, commercially attractive, and suitable for deployment across different customer applications, grid requirements, and international markets.
The ideal candidate will already understand what it takes to manage a complex hardware product. Direct utility-scale BESS experience is strongly preferred, but the team is also open to candidates from adjacent industrial hardware markets, including residential energy products, provided they bring credible experience across hardware development, factory production, product launches, and ongoing product improvement.
Responsibilities Include:
• Owning the full product lifecycle and roadmap from development and factory ramp through global commercialization, sustaining, and continuous improvement
• Translating market trends, customer feedback, and techno-economic analysis into clear product priorities
• Defining standardized product configurations, specifications, and variants for different markets, customer applications, and grid-code requirements
• Leading product launches alongside engineering and commercial teams, including positioning, documentation, training, and go-to-market readiness
• Coordinating product changes, quality improvements, and production milestones across multiple global manufacturing sites
• Driving cost reduction, margin improvement, and product competitiveness in partnership with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance
• Working with technical writers to produce installation guides, feature specifications, performance and safety documentation, and Independent Engineering materials
• Acting as the primary product voice across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, finance, and project delivery
The Candidate
• Strong experience managing complex hardware products through development, launch, factory ramp, commercialization, and sustaining
• Direct utility-scale BESS or battery hardware product management experience is strongly preferred
• Candidates from adjacent industrial hardware markets will also be considered where they bring strong product ownership and manufacturing experience
• Residential battery, energy hardware, or other related product backgrounds may be relevant where the individual understands hardware development, factories, production scale, and product launches
• Strong understanding of how engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, cost, quality, and commercial requirements influence hardware product decisions
• Experience defining product configurations, technical requirements, regional variants, or grid-code requirements
• Able to combine engineering judgment with commercial and techno-economic analysis
• Willing to work from Palo Alto, California
The team is considering candidates at Staff and Senior Staff level depending on experience, technical depth, and previous product ownership.
